THEME OF THE CONFERENCE

The MEKT International Youth Pastoral Conference on synodality will be held in the midst of the synodal process of the church. The invited conference speakers focus on
the connection between the biblical and theological fundament concerning the field of missionary synodality amoung youth, new perspectives arising from its deliberations and the
connection to the participants´ understanding of the term synodality. The possibilities to experience synodality for youth pastoral experts in a practical way and engage in the countries‘ ‘listening-and-learning‘ sessions will be of major value for the conference and their participants.

ABOUT MEKT

The MEKT Youth-Team has it’s origin in the youth program of the Pilgrimage of the Nations during the 2004 Central European Catholics’ Day (MEKT short for Mitteleuopäischer Katholikentag) in Mariazell, Austria, 2004. Feeling their responsibility for Europe as a whole, the organizers, Cardinals and Bishops of the eight participating countries, addressed the citizens. Their aim was to be supportive to the EU accession process by helping to reduce prejudices and xenophobia, strenghtening solidarity and justice among countries and people in Central Europe. The MEKT-Youth-Team organizes network meetings, workshops (f.e. during World Youth Day) and conferences.
